Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has reaffirmed the government’s dedication to tackling the rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), emphasizing that carefully crafted policies are being implemented to reduce their impact.

Speaking during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to R. Hulhudhuffaaru, Minister Nazim stated that policies are being shaped to tackle the rise in life-threatening diseases linked to lifestyle choices.

Minister Nazim noted that tobacco and vaping products pose significant health risks and highlighted that past administrations did not take adequate action to address these issues.

However, he commended President Dr. Muizzu for taking bold measures to promote a healthier future for the next generation.

The Minister emphasized that enhancing primary healthcare services across all islands and atolls is a top priority, highlighting the government’s commitment to implementing long-term, sustainable reforms.

"Now in all the islands of all the atolls of the country, we will complete the program to strengthen primary health care, and this will be set up and arranged in a manner that is sustainable for the long term,”
