The Atmosphere Foundation hosted a celebratory event on January 16, 2025, at Meermuaa Event and Conference Centre, bringing together donors, project partners, and stakeholders to highlight its achievements in sustainability and inclusivity over the past three years.

The evening showcased the Foundation’s diverse initiatives tackling social, environmental, and educational challenges across the Maldives.

A key highlight was the Bamboo for Climate Change Mitigation Project, which planted and distributed over 4,000 bamboo plants in 30 locations.

This initiative supports the Maldives' goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2030.

A notable achievement under this project is the HDh. Vaikaradhoo Bamboo Park, home to 83 bamboo plants representing 13 varieties.

The Foundation’s environmental efforts also included World Environment Day 2024 celebrations, featuring competitions, awareness sessions, and bamboo crafting workshops to promote sustainability.

In education, the Foundation established the Kakkaa Vathi Training Kitchen at Imaduddin School Jewel Centre, where 44 students with diverse learning abilities received certified culinary training.

Additionally, the Kakkaa Vathi Student Sponsorship Programme enabled two graduates to pursue further education at Maldives National University.

The Read Right with The Reading Room programme reached 5,329 students across 13 atolls, improving literacy in Dhivehi and English.

It also trained 1,500 teachers and 1,330 parents to support young readers, and vocational training has been another area of focus.

Through the Vocational Skills Training Programme, 25 participants in Fuvahmulah gained skills in carpentry, bakery, housekeeping, and computer programming, with 11 passing competency assessments.

The Foundation also organized career guidance under the Campus Day for TVEC Students initiative, resulting in internship placements at Atmosphere Core resorts.

Empowering women has been central to the Foundation’s mission.

The Soft Toy Making Training programmes in HDh. Vaikaradhoo and Sh. Goidhoo taught 29 women to craft toys and repurpose materials.

Additionally, the Foundation supported a young innovator in Goidhoo with a laptop and training to develop electronic models from recyclable materials.

Health initiatives included Community Outreach and Caregiver Workshops, benefiting 874 senior citizens with health screenings and consultations.

The Community Screening for Dementia programme trained 75 screeners and reached 747 individuals.

The Eye Camp in Haa Dhaalu Atoll provided cataract surgeries, while the Speech and Hearing Camp in Faafu Atoll supported 91 children and trained 45 teachers for effective interventions.

Other projects include refurbishing the Amaan Veshi Children’s Centre in Fuvahmulah and supporting the Vaavoshi Festival in N. Kendhikulhudhoo, promoting marine ecosystem awareness with a focus on sea turtles.

These initiatives exemplify the Foundation’s commitment to building sustainable and inclusive communities across the Maldives.

"The Atmosphere Foundation envisions a world where communities are not just recipients of aid but active participants in their own transformation,"

Vice president of the foundation, Abdul Azeez Abdul Kareem stated

With four new projects planned for early 2025, the Atmosphere Foundation reaffirmed its dedication to creating sustainable and inclusive communities.
