Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has condemned mocking individuals under the guise of criticism, calling it a degrading act. 

In a post on ‘X’, the Vice President addressed remarks made by former Home Minister Umar Naseer during Channel 13's Newstalk program, where he implied that protests could potentially topple President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s government.

Umar Naseer stated that he would personally participate if the situation escalated to street protests. 

Responding to these comments, the Vice President emphasized the importance of maintaining respect in political discourse. 

He highlighted that President Dr. Muizzu remains open to constructive criticism, which he described as a hallmark of good leadership.

The Vice President added that every leader or politician serving the nation should embody this quality and refrain from demeaning others. 

He stressed that mockery in the name of criticism undermines democratic values and civil decency.
