The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has launched a comprehensive inspection of salons and spas operating in the greater Male’ area.

The inspections, which began on Monday, will continue until December 19, focusing on evaluating cleanliness and hygiene standards at these establishments.

HPA has urged salon and spa owners to fully cooperate with the inspection process and has provided the contact number 3024570 for any queries or further information.

The agency emphasized the importance of maintaining hygienic practices in such facilities, as poor cleanliness has been observed in some establishments.

Additionally, concerns have been raised about certain salons and spas being misused as fronts for criminal activities.

On September 18, Maldives Immigration conducted raids in the Male’ area to identify illegal workers in these establishments.

During the operation, 22 facilities were inspected, resulting in the detention of seven female expatriates found working in violation of regulations.

This latest initiative by HPA aims to uphold public health and safety standards while addressing the growing concerns surrounding some of these businesses.
