MI College defeats Faculty of Education 3-0 to win men’s division in MNU SU Football Fiesta
MI College emerged victorious in the men’s division of the “10th MNUSU Football Fiesta,” defeating the Faculty of Education (FE) 3-0 in the final.
The championship, organized by the Maldives National University Student Union (MNUSU), showcased MI College’s skill and determination, culminating in their decisive win.
FE earned their place in the final by edging out Maldives Business School (MBS) on penalties (4-2) after a 1-1 tie in the first semi-final.
MI College reached the final by overcoming Villa College with a narrow 3-2 victory in the second semi-final.
The final began as a balanced match, with both teams pressing for goals in the first half.
MI College took an early lead in the 10th minute, thanks to a skillful goal by Mohamed Minwaal.
Both teams continued to create scoring opportunities, but the first half ended with MI College ahead 1-0.
In the second half, MI College intensified their offense.
Minwaal found the net again just three minutes into the half, extending MI College’s lead to 2-0.
Ibrahim Nooraddin added a third goal in the 16th minute, securing MI College’s commanding 3-0 advantage.
Mohamed Minwaal’s standout performance earned him the title of Best Player of the Match.
The tournament, which ran from October 24 to November 8, 2024, featured 18 teams, divided into four groups, with the top two teams from each group moving on to the quarterfinals.
The champions were awarded a cash prize of MVR 10,000, while the runner-up received MVR 5,000, highlighting the competitive spirit of the event.
