Amna Thazkiyah Mirsaad has made waves at the Asian Open Schools Invitational (AOSI) Shortcourse (25m) Agegroup Swimming Championships 2024 in Thailand, setting four new national records across various events.

Her exceptional performance has earned her a place in the history of Maldivian swimming.

In the women's 100m freestyle, Thazkiyah set a new national record with a time of 01:03.68, surpassing the previous record of 01:06.01 set by Aminath Shajan during the 2014 FINA Swimming World Championships (25m).

Thazkiyah also established a new national record in the 200m freestyle event, finishing with a time of 02:20.65.

This broke the previous record of 02:28.41, also set by Shajan at the 2014 FINA Championships.

In the 50m freestyle, Thazkiyah clocked 00:28.55, edging out the earlier record of 00:28.75 set by Aishath Ulya Shaiq at the University of Western Australia (UWA) West Coast Club Night No. 7 Meet earlier this year.

Thazkiyah completed her record-breaking streak in the 200m individual medley, finishing in 02:42.67.

She broke the previous record of 02:45.14, set by Meral Ayn Latheef at the Rushmoor Royals Summer Shortcourse Open Meet in mid-2024.

Thazkiyah’s remarkable achievements at the AOSI Championships highlight her as one of the brightest talents in Maldivian swimming, as she continues to push the boundaries of national performance.
