Maldivian has signed an agreement with TrueNoord to procure an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, advancing the President’s commitment to expanding the airline’s wide-body operations.

The agreement was signed on Friday by Island Aviation Managing Director Ibrahim Ilyas on behalf of Maldivian and TrueNoord’s CCO Carst Lindeboom.

The ceremony, held in the presence of Maldivian Managing Director Ibrahim Ilyas, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Mohamed Ameen, and delegates from both companies, marks a pivotal step for the national airline.

The introduction of the A330-200 is expected to greatly enhance Maldivian’s operational capacity, open new destinations, and improve the overall travel experience for passengers.

The new aircraft will feature three classes: 18 seats in business class, 36 in premium economy, and 210 in economy class, totaling 264 seats.

According to Ilyas, the Airbus A330-200 will initially commence flights to China.

TrueNoord, a specialist regional aircraft leasing company with offices in Amsterdam, Dublin, London, and Singapore, will provide the aircraft.

The company is known for its expertise in aircraft finance and leasing, supporting operators and investors in the regional aircraft sector.
