Opposition leader and Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom have shared a poem on Twitter reminding him of The Nation's Day, which is celebrated in the Maldives following November 03, 1988, attacks by Sri Lankan Tamils.

He began the four-part poem by stating, "Once again, the dreaded coin day has arrived in the nation.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's wife Fazna's father, Sika Ahmed Ismail Manik, was sentenced to 15 years in prison after being found to be a participant on November 3.

In his poem, President Yameen stated that there is no end to the atrocities committed by the indigenous people on November 3.  According to President Yameen, those who lost on that day did not wish to celebrate since the names of the Abtals who defended the nation on that day had been defiled.

Ever since this government came to power, there has been criticism that there have not been many special events to celebrate Nasr Day. This year, there will be no special celebrations to mark Nasr Day. However, a flag-hoisting ceremony was held this morning.
