Maldivian Air Ambulance service completes 75 Flights since launch
Since its inception in March, the air ambulance service in the Maldives has successfully completed 75 flights, marking a significant milestone in emergency response improvement efforts.
Operated in collaboration with Island Aviation, the national airline Maldivian, the air ambulance service has been instrumental in providing swift medical assistance across domestic and seaplane routes.
The dedicated air ambulance service, utilizing two aircraft including a converted DHC-8-200 aircraft and a seaplane, has been commended for its impact on emergency medical care in the Maldives.
Health Ministry officials highlight the crucial role of air ambulances in swiftly transferring patients to tertiary hospitals during medical emergencies, ensuring timely access to advanced medical care.
The introduction of the national air ambulance service fulfills one of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's electoral promises, reflecting the government's commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and services.
Looking ahead, the Health Ministry plans to leverage the air ambulance service not only for domestic transfers but also for medical evacuations overseas, further strengthening emergency medical capabilities in the Maldives.
