The Islamic Ministry has commenced the distribution of 50 tonnes of dates gifted by Saudi Arabia to the Maldives on March 21, for the month of Ramadan.

According to the Ministry, the distribution of dates began today, and the schedule for distribution is as follows:

April 8-9: Afternoon from 1 pm to 3 pm

April 14-18: Afternoon from 1 pm to 3 pm

April 23-25: Morning from 9:30 am to 12 pm

Furthermore, the Ministry announced that the distribution of dates in Male', Hulhumale', and Villimale' will be facilitated by the ministry itself.

Each household will receive one packet of dates after presenting their national identity card for verification.

In the islands, the distribution will be managed by the respective island councils.

Each year, during the holy month of Ramadan, Saudi Arabia traditionally donates dates to the Maldives.

Usually, these dates are distributed either before or within the initial week of Ramadan.

However, in a departure from the norm, the distribution of dates has commenced as the fasting month approaches its conclusion.
