Ali Saleem, Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation, shared this update during an interview with government media PSM.

Saleem highlighted the increasing demand for flights from Hanimaadhoo International Airport, stating it has the highest demand among the airports served by the company.

The objective is to establish air connections to multiple cities in India, broadening the reach beyond Trivandrum.

Island Aviation's commercial team is actively conducting research and seeking feedback from tourism operators, businesses, and residents in the area to facilitate the expansion.

Bangalore has a good connection to other cities in India. Discussions are underway to initiate more flights, and we are optimistic that these discussions will result in a positive outcome

stated Ali Saleem

Simultaneously, a significant development project has been initiated to enhance Hanimaadhoo International Airport.

The project includes the addition of a 2.24 km runway, enabling the airport to accommodate larger flights such as Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 upon completion.

This infrastructure enhancement aligns with the growing demand for increased connectivity and improved transportation options for residents and tourists alike.
