Former President and opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) presidential candidate Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has arrived in Thiladhunmathi. Upon his arrival, he received a warm welcome from the locals of Thiladhumathi.

PPM has stated that the Former President is set to visit Haa Alif Atoll Kelaa, Baarah, Dhidhdhoo, Ihavandhoo and Thuraakunu during his trip. Former President Yameen has visited Ihavandhoo today and received a warm welcome from the locals of the island. 

President Yameen is set to attend a meeting in Ihavandhoo in the evening. 

President Yameen's first decision to visit the Thiladhunmathi was made on Wednesday last week. However, it was cancelled on the same day due to bad weather.

President Yameen arrived in Hanimaadhoo and was received at Hanimaadhoo Airport by his supporters. He also held meetings with senior party leaders in Hanimaadhoo.

According to PPM, during Former President Yameen's visit to the islands, one of the most important things was to seek people's opinions while preparing the party's manifesto for 2023. The party has said they are also seeking feedback on youth, women, fishermen and changes in governance.

This will be President Yameen's second visit as the party's presidential candidate to meet locals. His first visit was to Dhaalu Atoll Kudhuvadhoo this year.
