Smuggled drugs worth 6.5 million has been seized

Customs has seized 6.5 million Rufiyaa worth of drugs smuggled by air. 

Customs stated that on 6th February they had suspected a 23-year-old Brazilian woman who came from Doha, Qatar to Maldives for storing drugs in her luggage and upon searching had found the drugs.

They also stated that when they had analyzed the drugs in the first stage it tested positive for cocaine. And that it weighed 2.6 kilo with a street value of 6.5 million.

In addition to this Customs also stated that the woman had been denied entry and was sent back under rule of “how to treat foreigners who has been suspected of trying to smuggle drugs into Maldives by air” after discussion with executive offices.

They added that the seized drugs had been handed over to the police force.
