MJA express concern over the use of excessive force by MPS

Maldives Journalist Association (MJA) has expressed concern over the use of excessive force against journalists by the Maldives Police Service (MPS). 

The association made the remarks just after two journalists from Channel 13 were injured during a protest held by the opposition. A videographer and photo journalist wearing media press passes were hit by police shields and were also pepper sprayed during today's protest coverage. 

According to Maldives Journalist Association (MJA), The association is concerned that two journalists from Channel 13 were injured while covering the protest. 

Several protestors have also been injured during today's protests.

According to opposition, the condition of  one of the journalists who were injured during the protest coverage was severe and he was treated in ICU. 

Incidents of journalists being injured during protest coverage have been encountered previously also.
