2 journalists covering the opposition protest injured
Two journalists were seriously injured while covering an opposition protest in Male' city demanding the release of ppm's presidential candidate, President Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
During today's rally, Maldives Police Service employed excessive force to disband the protesters. Police also used pepper spray towards the participants at the rally without any prior warning. Protestors and reporters have been injured during the pepper-spraying incident.
Two journalists from Channel 13 suffered injuries and one journalist has now been brought to the hospital.
According to PPM spokesperson Heena Waleed, four other people have been also injured during today's protest and have now are been treated at the hospital.
Meanwhile, police arrested 11 people in connection with today's protest.
