Government introduces measures to ease payment of foreign worker fees and fines
The government has announced new relief measures for fees and fines payable to the state in relation to the employment of foreign workers.
According to the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, the decision follows numerous complaints from employers who have faced difficulties settling their dues within the deadlines stipulated under existing settlement agreements.
Starting October 10, employers who have been regularly making payments will be eligible for an extension of the payment period specified in their agreements with the government.
The ministry stated that the revised terms will be accessible through the Expat System homepage.
However, the ministry clarified that employers who have not made any payments under their existing settlement agreements will not be eligible for further extensions or new payment arrangements.
While the total amount of outstanding fees and fines related to foreign workers runs into the millions, several companies have employed foreign workers without fulfilling their financial obligations to the state.
The government continues to take robust measures to recover the outstanding payments.
