I spent my whole life for MDP, I’m delighted to return: Nasheed
Former President Mohamed Nasheed has officially returned to the Maldives Democratic Party (MDP), reaffirming his lifelong commitment to the party and expressing optimism for its future.
Speaking at a rally held at Sultan Park on Sunday night, Nasheed described his return as a heartfelt reunion, saying he was delighted to return to the MDP after a two-year absence.
“I’m happy to be back home,” he said, addressing a crowd gathered to witness his rejoining alongside leading members of The Democrats and other supporters returning to the MDP.
Nasheed lauded the MDP, stating that no other political party in the Maldives is as committed to public welfare.
There is no party other than the MDP that will try to bring happiness and benefits to the people

He added that both he and the MDP had always pursued politics with the same mission, which is to provide good for the people.
We are doing a noble work for a noble purpose,
Nasheed declared
He underlined the shared values and goals that continue to guide his political journey with the MDP.
Highlighting the country’s economic concerns, Nasheed pointed to debt as the most pressing issue facing the Maldives today.
He warned that next year alone, the country faces a repayment burden of USD 2 billion, and noted that the economy has stalled with no viable path for revival under the current administration.
According to Nasheed, the present government’s activities are limited to disbursing salaries, and he urged citizens to join efforts with the MDP to restore economic stability and growth.
He affirmed that the MDP is best equipped to handle the crisis.
The MDP is the party that will bring security to the people,

He assured the party’s ability to manage national debt and steer the country toward economic recovery.
Nasheed concluded the rally by pledging that the MDP knows what needs to be done to improve the overall situation in the Maldives.
