The Special Presidential Commission tasked with investigating the mysterious April 18 incident, where a young woman named Yumnu was discovered severely injured on the rooftop of a home in Malé, has uncovered a string of contradictory statements and potential efforts to obscure the truth.

The commission’s final report, identifies inconsistencies in the accounts of Daud Ahmed, who at the time held the position of President of the Presidential Youth Advisory Board and is the brother of Raudh Ahmed.

According to the report, Daud initially told police that Raudh had entered the residence, H. Maairaa, alone at approximately 5:38 AM on the morning of the incident and had not shared any information about Yumnu’s fall.

He also claimed that he had not communicated with any high-ranking government officials about the matter.

However, the commission found this testimony to be misleading.

Records show Daud contacted Homeland Minister Ali Ihusaan several times on the same day, contradicting his earlier statements.

The report also reveals that Daud was present when Raudh returned home after the incident, a detail omitted from his police testimony.

Testimonies from Daud’s acquaintances, Sajid Mohamed and Mohamed Iyan, were also found to be inconsistent.

The discrepancies suggest a coordinated effort to withhold key information.

CCTV footage showed Raudh actively searching for Yumnu shortly after her fall, before reuniting with Daud and friends.

Footage also shows Sajid picking up Raudh and dropping him home, where Daud and Iyan were seen waiting outside before they entered the house together.

The commission concluded that the conflicting accounts and lack of transparency pointed to a deliberate attempt to obscure the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Under growing public scrutiny, Daud Ahmed stepped down from his official role shortly after the incident.

Despite the contradictions, the commission stated it found no physical evidence indicating foul play, and believes Yumnu’s fall was accidental, likely occurring while she was under the influence.
