Maldives tourism campaign kicks off at Anfield in partnership with Liverpool FC
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) and Visit Maldives have launched a global tourism campaign in collaboration with Liverpool Football Club, leveraging the club’s vast international fan base to promote the Maldives as a premier travel destination.
The campaign officially commenced during the Liverpool vs. Everton match at Anfield, where LED boards around the stadium prominently displayed advertisements for Maldives tourism.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu attended the highly anticipated Merseyside derby, joining the promotional efforts to enhance the country’s visibility among football fans worldwide.
Liverpool FC, with a global fan base exceeding 500 million and 316 official supporter clubs in 100 countries, offers unparalleled exposure for the Maldives tourism industry.
The partnership is expected to attract over 100,000 additional tourists annually and generate approximately USD 200 million in tourism revenue.
In addition to stadium advertising, the collaboration includes digital marketing initiatives, exclusive events featuring Liverpool FC legends, and joint promotions at international trade shows.
This partnership builds on Visit Maldives’ previous initiatives, including the announcement on March 13 of its designation as Liverpool FC’s “Official Tourist Destination Partner” for a three-and-a-half-year global campaign.
Further reinforcing its presence in the UK, Visit Maldives launched an extensive outdoor campaign on March 27, featuring advertisements on London taxis, buses, the Underground, major airports, and business lounges.
Additionally, the campaign will include branding across Liverpool FC’s official materials, LED signage at Premier League home matches, and billboards in key European locations to attract high-value travelers.
With this high-profile collaboration, Maldives tourism aims to captivate millions of football fans, further solidifying its reputation as one of the world’s most sought-after travel destinations.
