Controller General of Immigration, Mohamed Shamaan Waheed, has been dismissed from his position, a senior government official confirmed. 

However, no official reason was provided for his removal.

The dismissal comes as police investigate and release a press release on allegations that certain immigration employees have been exploiting foreigners for illegal gains. 

Authorities launched an operation in connection with the case, during which a house was searched, leading to the arrest of three individuals.

Police have issued a statement regarding the investigation and have assured that further details will be disclosed as the probe progresses.

Shamaan, who was appointed Controller General of Immigration on November 19, 2023, was widely recognized for his proactive leadership.

The public highly praised Shamaan and Immigration for their efforts to resolve the illegal immigrants issue initiated by President Dr. Muizzu.
