Japan provides USD 5.1 million in aid grand for waste management
A grant aid of 700 million Japanese Yen (about USD 5.1) will be given to the Maldives by the Japanese government for waste management.
The Exchange of Notes between the Maldives and Japan was signed on Monday in order to facilitate the grant's implementation of a project aimed at improving the Maldives' waste management capacities.
While State Minister for Foreign Affairs and Member of the House of Representatives Takei Shunsuke signed the Exchange of Notes on behalf of Japan, Ahmed Khaleel, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, did the same.
The Foreign Ministry claims that the Maldives' capacity for sustainable waste management will be improved by this grant aid. This involves giving the islanders vehicles and trash management equipment.
State Minister Khaleel underlined the kindness of the Japanese government in his remarks at the ceremony and expressed appreciation for the grant help.
He also emphasized the cordial ties between the two nations. He proceeded by saying that these initiatives demonstrate Japan's ongoing status as one of the most important partners in the Maldives' development.
Khadeeja Naseem, the minister of state for environment, climate change, and technology, Takeuchi Midori, the ambassador of Japan to the Maldives, and senior representatives from the foreign ministry, ministry of environment, climate change, and technology, ministry of finance, as well as the Japanese embassy, all attended the signing ceremony.
