The Maldives and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Experience Exchange on Government Development and Modernization, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening governance practices and innovation.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2025.

Representing the Maldives, Abdulla Fayaz, Chief of Staff at the President's Office, signed the agreement, while Abdulla Nasser Lootah, UAE’s Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange, signed on behalf of the UAE.

The MoU facilitates the exchange of governance expertise through the UAE Government’s Experience Exchange Programme (GEEP), which provides training and capacity-building initiatives for Maldivian government officials.

Over the past three years, the Maldives has actively participated in GEEP, with 128 civil servants and senior officials benefiting from four training programs under the agreement.

This renewed partnership underscores both nations’ commitment to enhancing public sector efficiency and fostering knowledge-sharing for sustainable governance.
