Maldives Police has arrested a man, in connection with a significant drug operation conducted in Malé and Hulhumalé. 

The arrest was made as part of a joint operation between the Drug Enforcement Department and Counter Narcotics Intelligence.

The suspect arrested was Ahmed Shaubaan Latheef, 26, of Funaadu. Finifenmaage, Gn. Fuvahmulah.

Police confirmed that on January 12, a total of 1,058.31 grams of suspected drugs were seized during searches at an apartment in Hulhumalé Phase 2 and three locations in Malé. 

The apartment was believed to have ties to Ahmed Shaubaan Latheef.

Following his arrest, Ahmed Shaubaan Latheef was presented to the Criminal Court, which ordered him to remain in custody for seven days while the investigation continues. 

Police are actively pursuing further leads in the case.
