A 41-year-old individual has been arrested in connection to a sexual abuse of a minor in Addu City. 

The suspected individual has been arrested in connection with sexually abusing an 11-year-old. 

The police spokesperson told local media on Sunday an Addu atoll island girl who had been sexually assaulted was reported to the authorities last Wednesday. According to the police, the spokesperson stated the Maldivian male', age 41 detained in connection with the case. 

The spokesperson stated, "A five-day deadline was granted when he was taken before the court for a remand hearing.

The police are conducting an additional inquiries into the situation and to safeguard the victim's name and dignity, they have not revealed the island.
