A 40 year old man has been arrested for threatening to kill President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The suspect, identified as Abdullah Miyad from G. Sansange Aage, was taken into custody last night.

Police said that Facebook accounts that were believed to be used by Miyad, have been used to threaten President Dr. Muizzu and various levels of state officials with death.

He also made obscene posts threatening to kill and harm others individuals as well.

In addition, the account is also making posts encouraging homosexuality.

He was arrested after he arrived in Maldives from a foreign country, police said.

Police are investigating the incident.
