The Maldives celebrated the inauguration of the new runway at Hanimaadhoo International Airport, a critical development in enhancing regional connectivity.

The inauguration took place during a joint press conference between Maldives government and India government as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s state visit to India.

As per the development project of Hanimaadhoo International Airport, the new 2.7-kilometre runway is designed to intersect and join the runway that is currently in operation.

Indian company, JMC was in charge of the project. 

President Muizzu is in India for his first official state visit, which runs from October 6 to 10.
