India’s RuPay service launched in the Maldives

India's RuPay service has officially launched in the Maldives during President Dr. Muizzu's current state visit to India.

The announcement came at a joint press conference following a meeting between President Dr,Muizzu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi today at Hyderabad house.

The first transaction using the RuPay service took place today at an Authentic Maldives store, marking a significant milestone in enhancing financial access for Indian tourists.

This initiative will allow Indian visitors to utilize India's banking card services while in the Maldives, making transactions easier and more convenient.

With this new service in place, it is expected that the number of Indian tourists arriving in the Maldives will increase, further boosting the local tourism industry.

President Dr. Muizzu is in India for his first official state visit, which runs from October 6 to 10.
