Jumhooree Party leader and MP for Maamigili constituency, Gasim Ibrahim, has described President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s official state visit to India as a crucial opportunity to further solidify the relationship between the two neighboring nations.

Gasim made this statement in a post on the social media platform X, following the President's arrival in New Delhi for his first official state visit to India.

In his post, Gasim expressed optimism about the positive outcomes of the trip, stating that it marks a promising moment for both countries.

Exciting and hopeful times are ahead as President Dr. Muizzu embarks on his official visit to India at the invitation of Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu

He wrote

He emphasized that the visit is a pivotal moment for the Maldives-India partnership, especially as President is set to hold bilateral talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As the leader of the Jumhooree Party, I wholeheartedly support decisive actions to not only strengthen but also sustain this important relationship,

Gasim added

 He stressed that cooperation between India and the Maldives is essential for ensuring regional stability in the Indian Ocean and advancing social and economic progress for both nations.

President Dr. Muizzu’s visit, which runs from October 6 to 10, 2024, has garnered significant attention as it includes key meetings with Indian officials, including Prime Minister Modi and External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

Additionally, the President met with members of the Maldivian community living in New Delhi during his visit.
