President Dr. Muizzu and First Lady receives a grand welcome in New Delhi

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and First Lady Madam Sajidha Mohamed were given a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Presidential Palace in New Delhi, marking the start of President’s first official state visit to India.

Upon their arrival, they were received by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. 

As part of the official welcome, President Dr. Muizzu was honored with a 21-gun salute and inspected the Guard of Honour, signifying the strong ties between the two neighboring nations.

The President's visit, which is scheduled from October 6 to 10, 2024, includes key meetings with Indian leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

These meetings are aimed at further strengthening the long-standing relationship between the Maldives and India.

During his visit, President Dr. Muizzu also took time to meet with Maldivian families residing in New Delhi and held discussions with India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, on various matters of mutual interest.
