President Dr. Muizzu to embark on key state visit to India on Sunday

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, will embark on a state visit to India from October 6th to 10th, 2024, following an invitation extended by India’s President, Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu.

This visit, officially announced by the President’s Office, will focus on further strengthening the long-standing bilateral relationship between the Maldives and India.

During the visit, President Dr. Muizzu is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with President Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and senior officials from the Indian government.

The discussions will center on enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors, with the goal of reinforcing the strong partnership between the two neighboring nations.

President Dr. Muizzu’s engagement with Indian leadership comes after previous interactions, including a meeting with Prime Minister Modi at the COP28 summit in Dubai in December 2023, and attending Modi’s swearing-in ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in June 2024.

India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar also visited the Maldives in August, further solidifying diplomatic ties.

A high-level delegation from the Maldives will accompany President Dr. Muizzu during his visit, with the Government of India extending full hospitality for the occasion.

The President’s Office reaffirmed Dr. Muizzu's commitment to maintaining and enhancing bilateral relations with nations that contribute significantly to the development of the Maldives, ensuring a proactive and dynamic foreign policy.
