President Dr Muizzu and Oman's Foreign Minister discuss strengthening bilateral ties at UNGA

On the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman.

The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the two nations and exploring areas for further support.

During the meeting, President Dr. Muizzu expressed appreciation for the ongoing support from Oman and outlined his administration’s development priorities.

He highlighted key areas where additional assistance would be valuable, such as budgetary support, infrastructure development, and capacity building through the training of local teachers.

Both President Dr Muizzu and the Omani Foreign Minister reaffirmed their commitment to working together on matters of mutual interest, underscoring their determination to strengthen diplomatic and strategic relations in the years to come.

Diplomatic ties between the Maldives and Oman were established on February 20, 1981, and the two countries have maintained strong bilateral relations since.
