On Monday, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with His Excellency Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs of China, on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

President Dr. Muizzu emphasized the significance of the Maldives’ relationship with China, highlighting ongoing agreements and projects between the two nations.

He expressed gratitude for China’s support in the development of the Maldives' tourism industry.

In response, Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s dedication to continued cooperation, pledging support across various sectors.

Both leaders stressed the importance of sustained collaboration, especially in addressing shared challenges such as climate change and adaptation strategies.

President Dr. Muizzu is attending the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, held at the UN Headquarters in New York.
