The President has asked the relevant institutions to take necessary measures to prevent the import of medical drugs and the sale of them in the market at very high prices.

The President said this in a post on X tonight.

In his post, he noted that the prices of medical drugs imported and sold in the Maldivian market are between 200% and 2,000%.

He said the measures would reduce the market price of medicines and the price charged by Aasandha.

As a result of this change, hundreds of millions of rufiyaa will be saved from Aasandha and the money will be used to improve the quality of health services, the President's post said.

The schedule and details of the change will be announced soon, the President said in the post.
