Mariyam Shiuna and Malsha Shareef have stepped down from their roles as Deputy Ministers of Youth Affairs.

They confirmed their resignations to “Voice” earlier today.

In early January, Mariyam Shiuna, Malsha Shareef, and Abdulla Mahzoon Maajid were suspended from their deputy minister positions after making social media posts that criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, causing widespread anger among Indian citizens.

These comments were made against Indian Prime Minister Modi over India's decision to expand tourism in Lakshadweep

Rumors circulated about a strain in diplomatic relations between Maldives and India at the time.

However, ties have since improved, with President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu attending Modi's swearing-in ceremony and India's Minister of External Affairs, Dr. S. Jaishankar, visiting Maldives.
