A 21-year-old youth has tragically passed away after sustaining severe injuries in a traffic accident in Male'.

The incident occurred early Thursday morning at the junction of Boduthakurufaanu Magu and Koimalaa Hingun when a motorcycle collided with a car.

The victim, identified as Mohamed Leevan Abdul Latheef, had been receiving intensive care at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for the past three days.

He was placed on ventilator support but succumbed to his injuries late last night.

Photos from the night of the accident revealed significant damage to Leevan's motorcycle after it collided with the car.

Police confirmed that they were alerted to the crash at 12:53 a.m. on Thursday.

This accident is one of several recent tragedies.

On Thursday night, a separate accident in Hulhumale’ near Central Park resulted in the death of a 23-year-old motorcyclist after a collision with a sports car.

Another individual is currently receiving treatment following an accident in Hulhumale' yesterday.
