Foreign Minister meets Saudi counterpart, delivers letter from President Dr Muizzu

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Moosa Zameer, met with the Saudi Foreign Minister, His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, in Riyadh today during his official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting took place at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Minister Zameer handed over a letter from Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

During their discussions, the two ministers reflected on the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia, rooted in their shared Islamic heritage, values, and principles.

They explored ways to further enhance bilateral relations and discussed opportunities for increased collaboration in multilateral forums.

Both sides also touched on the scheduling of the first round of bilateral political consultations between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia at a mutually convenient time.

Minister Zameer expressed deep appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s long-standing support for the Maldives and emphasized his hopes for strengthened bilateral engagements following this visit.

Accompanying Minister Zameer were Ambassador-at-Large Ahmed Naseer, Joint Secretary Badoora Saeed, Director General Aishath Fareena, and Chargé d'affaires at the Maldivian Embassy in Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Fazeel.

Minister Zameer, who left for Saudi Arabia on Sunday, is on a five-day official visit, during which he is scheduled to meet with senior Saudi government officials and representatives from the Saudi Fund for Development.

Additionally, he also met with with the Maldivian community residing in Riyadh.
