Jaishankar arrives in Addu City, set to inaugurate major development projects
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar arrived at Gan International Airport in Addu City, Maldives, where he was warmly received by Maldivian Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and Addu City’s Mayor Ali Nizaar.
During his stay, Jaishankar will officially hand over two critical infrastructure projects in Addu City, both facilitated by the Government of India under the EXIM Bank of India's Line of Credit (LOC) facility.
The first project focuses on reclamation and shore protection, a crucial initiative designed to protect Addu City's coastline from erosion and other environmental challenges.
The second project involves the construction of a four-lane detour link road, which will enhance transportation and connectivity within the region, further boosting local development.
These projects highlight India’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Maldives in its infrastructure development, particularly in strategically important areas like Addu City.
S.Jaishankar is on a three-day visit to Maldives and marks the first official visit from India since President Dr. Muizzu assumed office last year.
