Jaishankar reviews progress of the Thilamale’ Bridge

Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar conducted a visit to inspect the progress of the Greater Male’ Connectivity Bridge.

During the visit, Minister Jaishankar was accompanied by Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and Construction and Infrastructure Minister Dr. Abdulla Muththalib.

The bridge is being built with financial support from India's Exim Bank.

The construction work is being carried out by India’s Afcons Infrastructure Company.

Following his inspection, Minister Jaishankar shared on 'X' that the bridge will significantly enhance the Maldivian economy.

He emphasized that the project will improve connectivity in the Male’ region and facilitate easier transportation.

Key Details of the Thilamale’ Bridge:

- Price: $500 million (MVR 6.2 billion).

- $100 million (MVR 1.55 billion) is India's free aid.

- Experts from Turkey, Germany and Australia are also involved in the bridge.

- The Construction Ministry said last month that 40% of the bridge is complete.
