Maldives reaffirms support for SAARC during courtesy call from Secretary-General

In a courtesy visit today, Golam Sarwar, Secretary-General of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), met with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at the President’s Office.

During their discussion, President Dr Muizzu reaffirmed the Maldives Government's unwavering commitment to supporting and strengthening SAARC.

He also expressed enthusiasm for advancing regional trade cooperation.

Secretary-General Sarwar, who took the opportunity to discuss SAARC's various programs and initiatives, praised the Maldives for its long-standing support of the organization.

He highlighted the country’s significant contributions since SAARC’s establishment in 1985 and its ongoing role in the organization’s growth and development.

The Maldives, as a founding member, has been instrumental in SAARC's evolution since the signing of the SAARC Charter in Dhaka on December 8, 1985.
