Tourist arrivals surged by an impressive 14 percent in July

Statistics shared by the Ministry of Tourism report a 14% increase in the number of tourists that arrived in Maldives, compared to that of July 2023, tallying a total of 161,443 tourists this year.

This marks an increase of more than 20,000 compared to the previous year's July, which observed 141,162 tourist arrivals.

July has seen an increase in tourist numbers after a significant dip in the previous two months.

In the first seven months of this year, 1,176,972 tourists have arrived in the Maldives.

This represents a 9.9 percent increase compared to the 1,070,769 arrivals in the first seven months of 2023.

The government aims to reach a goal of 2 million tourist arrivals by the end of the year.

The Maldives will need to welcome 180,000 tourists per month for the rest of the year to achieve this goal.

Currently, the highest number of tourist arrivals is from China, with 157,560 visitors. Russia is second on the list, with 125,377 tourists. The UK ranks third, with 104,173 tourists visiting the Maldives this year.
