According to a statement from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the shooter was identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crook from Pennsylvania.

Crook was shot dead by Secret Service personnel during the attack.

The shooting occurred just as Trump, donning his signature red "Make America Great Again" cap, began his speech at the rally.

Multiple shots rang out, prompting Trump to clutch his ear and fall to the floor as Secret Service agents quickly surrounded him and escorted him off the stage to a nearby vehicle.

Identification of the shooter, Crook, was confirmed through DNA and biometric tests, as he did not have any identification on him at the time.

The Associated Press reported that Crook was registered as a member of Trump’s Republican Party.
