SAARC member states share climate strategies at Thimphu workshop
SAARC member states met in Thimphu on 10-11 July 2024 for a consultation workshop on climate change to review the status of the implementation of the Thimphu Statement on Climate Change 2010, which was originally adopted with the vision of fostering a green and happy South Asia.
Representatives from SAARC nations discussed various national-level actions taken to address climate change.
They also shared successful strategies and practices to strengthen regional collaboration.
These recommendations will be presented at the upcoming SAARC Intergovernmental Expert Group on Climate Change Meeting, scheduled for later this year.
The two-day workshop, facilitated by the SAARC Secretariat in Kathmandu, with financial and technical support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), was honored by the Chairperson of the Royal Civil Service Commission, who formerly served as the Director-General of the Department of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources.
