President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu has declared a thorough investigation into the MMPRC scam, promising decisive action against those involved.

Speaking at a PNC event last night, President Dr Muizzu underscored the urgency of recovering public funds lost to corruption and ensuring accountability.

During his speech, he criticized previous presidential commissions for their ineffectiveness, noting that despite spending millions, no lost money had been recovered. 

To address these issues, the government is drafting a bill to establish a special law on asset recovery.

This new legislation aims to reclaim state property sold at unfairly low prices and recover funds hidden abroad.

President Dr Muizzu emphasized that this law would adhere to international standards and recommendations, expressing confidence in the government’s ability to reclaim stolen assets both domestically and internationally.

He stressed the importance of fair proof before taking action, ensuring that only those truly involved in corruption are held accountable.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to identifying and punishing perpetrators, regardless of their identity.
