Saeed ended the hunger strike following full assurances from the relevant authorities that the issues would be investigated and action would be taken.

The hunger strike carried out by BML spokesperson Mohamed Saeed for nearly 35 hours demanding justice regarding a person repeatedly causing public nuisance around Henveiru area has been finally called off.

Saeed ended the hunger strike following full assurances from the relevant authorities that the issues would be investigated and action would be taken.

This issue arose from repetitive conduct against public social standards caused by an individual named Ahmed Fairish toward residents living in the area.

Saeed initially began his protest inside the Henveiru Police Station after finding it unbearable to deal with the swearing in the presence of young children and physical harassment directed at various individuals.

However, after spending 14 hours there, he had to leave the station and continued his hunger strike on Majeedhee Magu near the Police Headquarters.

Speaking after ending the strike, Saeed stated that he stopped the protest after receiving strong assurances from Home Minister Ali Ihusaan and the Prosecutor General (PG).

"Minister Ihusaan gave me a very strong assurance. The PG's Office also called late last night and again today, reassuring me and my family that they will proceed with this matter, Saeed said.

Saeed further noted that several cases previously registered and closed at the police station up until yesterday will be reopened and investigated under the Minister's direction.

Additionally, under the Minister's instructions, an opportunity was provided today to re-log previously submitted cases that had not been officially logged.

He stated that after logging those cases and consulting with his family, he decided to conclude the hunger strike.

Saeed expressed his gratitude to the media and social media users who helped raise awareness and voice concerns over the issue.

He specifically thanked the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Ismail Nizaar, who joined him right after arriving in Malé and spent the time from night until morning offering encouragement.

Furthermore, he acknowledged the support received from his family and neighbours.
