One of the largest city hotels opened in the Malé region, Manhattan Grand Hotel, has officially opened last night.

Manhattan Grand Hotel was opened in a ceremony held at the hotel tonight.

The hotel was inaugurated by Finance Minister Hassan Zareer.

Opened in the building previously designated for the STO City Hotel, Manhattan’s hotel opens after a year of development work. This five-star hotel features 162 rooms and is designed with modern amenities.

Accordingly, the hotel includes restaurants, a gym, a swimming pool, and conference halls.

As the Manhattan Grand Hotel is now open to the public, bookings can be made directly through its website, according to the hotel.

The building where Manhattan Hotel was developed was originally constructed 20 years ago by STO to operate a city hotel.

STO first initiated work to establish a city hotel in Hulhumalé in 2007.

At the time, STO stated that starting the hotel was an effort to address foreign currency shortages faced by the company.

Although work on the site was contracted out to various parties over the years, progress halted and remained stalled.

It remained in that state until STO handed the hotel over to HDC in 2024.
