Zahir speaks in Parliament.

Gadhdhoo MP Ahmed Zahir has stated that the government has failed to protect the people and the countries interest, the next step is to decided what the parliament has to do without betraying the people.

Zahir made the remarks while expressing his displeasure in parliament over the government's decision to vote in favour of Mauritius on the Chagos issue, which would deprive a part of the Maldives territory.

Zahir said the government is being formed with the noble objective of protecting the rights of the people and the country. However, He said that the government has lost faith in the government's handling of the Chagos case.

This is not a routine pratice , It's not a small thing

Said MP Zahir

Zahir has repeatedly said that it is the failure of the government to complete matters that require the approval of the people through a letter from the President.

"It's not a small matter. I've lost confidence, I've lost confidence. I would like all these members of this august House to understand well what to do next. I assure you that this Parliament will not be traitor to the people. The government thought it would be able to do whatever it wanted if it had 65 MPs, that it could do things in such a way that the people would not be able to do even a rake, otherwise it would not

Said Gadhdhoo MP Ahmed Zahir

Zahir added that parliament should not give things the way the government wants them to.

Zahir said the government has taken illegal decisions in the Chagos case and the parliament should not hesitate to take action against them.
