China's Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, has extended a cordial invitation to the Maldives to enhance collaboration and accelerate the implementation of projects under the Global Development Initiative (GDI), underscoring a shared commitment to mutual prosperity.

In a statement titled ‘Uniting for a Better Future: Building a Global Community with Shared Destiny’, Wang emphasized the importance of collective action in realizing the vision set forth by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2021.

The GDI, alongside the Global Security Initiative (GSI) and the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), aims to address common challenges and foster a sustainable and inclusive future.

Wang emphasized the lasting bond between China and the Maldives, underscoring the Maldives' role as a dependable neighbor and crucial partner in development efforts.

Regarding the recent visit of Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to Beijing, Wang highlighted the mutual dedication of both countries to strengthening Belt and Road cooperation, harmonizing development strategies, and broadening practical collaboration in areas including sustainability, digital advancements, and marine preservation.

Emphasizing the tangible benefits of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Wang cited over 200 cooperation agreements signed with more than 150 countries and 30 international organizations.
These partnerships have facilitated thousands of projects, attracted nearly US$1 trillion in investment, and lifted millions out of poverty.

Wang also highlighted China's successful mediation efforts in restoring diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran in 2023, showcasing the effectiveness of GSI in fostering regional reconciliation.

Underlining the necessity of collective efforts in building a global community with a shared destiny, Wang drew on an ancient Chinese proverb, “One should be good at finding the laws of things and solving problems” advocating for strategic problem-solving and adherence to universal principles.

In conclusion, Wang reaffirmed China’s dedication to collaborating with nations like the Maldives to advance the noble goal of building a shared future for humanity, embodying a vision of inclusive development and global prosperity.
