The highest number of tourists arrived in Maldives  in a single day so far this year was recorded on Saturday, said tourism ministry.

According to the Daily Reports of the Ministry, 8,054 tourists visited Maldives on Saturday.

The previous record for the highest number of tourists in a single day this year was on February 11th. Total of 8,024 tourists visited Maldives on that day.

This is the peak tourist season and a lot of tourists are visiting Maldives during this period.

The country has reached its target of 1.8 million tourists this year on last week. The 1.8 millionth tourist was  warmly welcomed.

According to the latest statistics, a total of 1,821,338 tourists have visited Maldives so far this year. This is an increase of 12.4% compared to 1,620,215 tourists during the same period last year.

The  year 2019  was the highest number of tourists visiting Maldives so far. 1,702,887 tourists visited the country that year.

Russia is the largest tourist destination in Maldives while, India is the second largest tourist destination.

There are currently 1140 places opened to cater to tourists visiting Maldives with a bed capacity of 61273, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
