Ali Umar Appointed as Vice President of SAFF

Ali Umar, the Vice President of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM), has been appointed to the position of Vice President of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF).

During the SAFF congress meeting held yesterday at a hotel in Dhaka, Bangladesh, Ali Umar, former football star, was elected to serve as Vice President of the SAFF for a term of four years.

Ali Umar commenced his senior football career with Youth Sports Club in 1996, and has since established himself as one of the most accomplished forwards in Maldivian football history. 
He has represented Maldives in SAFF exco in the past, and has played for several clubs including Club Valencia, Island FC, New Radiant, and VB Sports Club.

Ali Umar has demonstrated his longstanding commitment to Maldivian football, having played for the national team for a period spanning 14 years. Notably, he served as Vice President during Ahmed Thoriq (Tom)’s tenure as head of the Football Association of Maldives, and subsequently assumed the role of Sports Commissioner.
