President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that he is confident he will be triumphant in the MDP’s ongoing presidential primary election by a huge difference.

Speaking in an interview after casting his vote in the election, he claimed that the allegations made by President Mohamed Nasheed and his campaign team; the opposition, saying that he was attempting to cheat in the election were false.

In regard to this he stated that what will be seen from this election is going to be an important scenario for the democratic history of Maldives.

He also added that he hopes that the voting ends with peace and that afterwards the next step is to work together for the Presidential Election held in the month of September.

“I believe that I will be triumphant by a huge difference. We have done a lot of work, what will be seen is that. The work we are doing is to make the difference huge, I hope that a difference of double digits can be seen when the results come out.”

In addition to this he also stated that the preparation for the upcoming presidential election is already underway. 

In relation to this the president stated that it was important to identify the notions of people working in different constituency as well as the common members of the party and get their support. And that he would begin working towards this once the election is over with.
